Managed Accounts: One Strategy, One Pool, Your Share
Introducing a separate home for pooled yield, proprietary HFT and discretionary managed accounts that allocate to vaults on Quant Fun.
A different way to participate
Managed Accounts introduces a separate section of Quant Fun for capital pooled into one account per strategy. We hold and operate that account. Participants receive a proportional share of its gains and losses instead of having trades placed in their personal accounts. These managed accounts have private investment logic: there is no visible Studio algorithm or graph running behind the strategy page. Account reporting and participation records remain distinct from disclosure of the trading model.
Some strategies use managed accounts because their operators want to keep the investment logic entirely confidential. Others are simply easier to operate and manage in one pooled account. Some are semi-systematic: software runs the system while a human supervises it and intervenes when needed. Managed accounts support both fully automated and human-supervised approaches.

Three families of managed accounts
The section covers yield strategies, proprietary high-frequency trading and discretionary vault allocations. In managed accounts that allocate to vaults, a manager chooses vaults in which to allocate capital. Where a vault cannot accept a direct deposit, the managed account may instead copy its trading. That is a different execution method, with its own prices, costs and possible divergence; it does not create a deposit in the source vault.

Yield strategy
Our first yield managed account is called Yield strategy. It uses a well-proven approach whose expected return is straightforward to calculate from its assumptions. Quant Fun operates one pool, and participants hold units that determine their share of its gains and losses. The strategy’s mechanics remain private. The account is in preparation and deposits remain closed.
The account page includes an approximate APR: an annual estimate before performance fees. It is variable and not guaranteed; actual returns may be lower or negative. The shared estimate is refreshed hourly and shows when it was last updated. It is an assumption-based projection, not realized performance.
Each deposit is locked for 7 days. After the lockup, a withdrawal request starts a 3-day withdrawal period. Settlement also requires available funds.
Who operates the account
Some managed accounts will be operated by the Quant Fun team. Others will use an appointed external manager whose system trades the pooled account through an API. The platform already supports strategies authored outside Studio. Managed Accounts adds a different ownership structure around execution: a single pool for each managed account, with a participant ledger alongside it. The appointment of an API manager does not change where participant funds are held.

Tracking each participant fairly
A confirmed deposit receives units at the account’s current net asset value. The participant’s remaining units determine their share of subsequent gains and losses. Later deposits enter at the later valuation, so they do not receive earlier profits. The ledger keeps deposits, withdrawals, unit balances, charged fees and net P&L separately. Each deposit has its own fee basis and high-water mark, so one participant’s entry date does not become another participant’s fee history.
Fees follow the managed account
Manager compensation is a share of eligible profits. Yield managed accounts participate from the first dollar of eligible profit, with no hurdle. Other proprietary managed accounts can set a hurdle followed by marginal profit-share tiers. A tier applies only to the profit in that band. Each managed account must publish its percentages, hurdle basis, high-water-mark treatment, crystallization period and redemption treatment. The accounting model supports a simple annual hurdle and fees on scheduled crystallization or redemption; these are capabilities, not an announced fee schedule for an unnamed strategy.
On exit, the annual hurdle and annualized profit bands are prorated to each deposit’s fee period using a 365-day year. Fees apply to actual eligible profit, not the projected annual amount.
Before the first deposit
The new section is being prepared for strategy-specific launches. Deposits remain closed until the pooled account, valuation reconciliation, funding process and approved fee and withdrawal terms are ready. No performance history or yield is implied by a category listing. Participation can lose value, and withdrawals depend on the managed account and the liquidity of its underlying positions. The section will show the terms for each configured managed account before funding opens.
